The Gary M. Browning M.D. Endowed Scholarship and Student Support Fund
Debbie LybrandDecember, 2010
I am so proud of my brother, Dr. Gary M. Browning, who worked tirelessly for his patients during his distinguished career. While there is nothing that would replace having him with us each day, to know that he shall continue his legacy with the furthering of the education of our future doctors makes me smile. He worked with one and all, always teaching and offering an insight through his vast knowledge.
Even after his death, Gary will have an influence on new generations of physicians. This scholarship endowment will offer financial assistance to medical students with distinguished studies but with a risk of leaving school due to their financial hardships.
I recently found a narrative that Gary submitted with his application in 1984 to the Eastern Virginia Medical College. To describe his heritage, Gary simply stated that he was the grandson of a farmer and a carpenter. From humble, yet honest, beginnings he was a phenomenal man who accomplished so much as evidenced by his gift to the school.
Words cannot express the emptiness in our hearts with Gary's physical absence, but there is joy to know his legacy continues in such a distinguished manner and our family thanks the UK Board of Trustees for accepting Gary's gift with such flare and dedication for the future of medical education.
Dr. Browning, you are missed but well appreciated.

Dr. Browning was a native of Cynthiana, Ky. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Morehead State University and medical degree from UK College of Medicine in 1984. He completed his internship and obstetrics and gynecology residency in Norfolk, Va., at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. I only recently learned of Gary's passing. I lost touch with him after high school. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you all.
